It’s always been our goal to reflect the community we serve so welcome to the latest evolution of your magazine – the Lincoln Independent.

It is hand delivered to over 8,500 homes and businesses with another 2,500 strategically placed at pick-up points around the city and local villages (see Where We Go).

The Indie started life 21 years ago as the Bailgate News for the residents and businesses of uphill Lincoln.
A name change was needed to avoid confusion with another local venture, but also to reflect the publication’s ethos, so the Bailgate Independent was born.

The magazine continued to grow organically under the original team but when the new owners, Rachel Bishop and Amanda McSorley took over in November 2016 they decided there should be an even greater emphasis on the wider Lincoln community through more editorial pages.

The magazine has been making our clients’ presence felt in and around the city for some time now and, although we’re very proud of our uphill roots, we felt it was time the magazine had a name change to recognise that coverage.

The Lincoln Independent was launched in September 2021 with a mission to cover the topics and issues important to our readers and so create an exciting and effective advertising platform for our clients.
